We are a 501c3 tax exempt nonprofit organization.

Donations are tax deductible and accepted on site during business hours. Tax receipts are provided upon request. Call to schedule a pickup for large donations.

Our Mission is to Promote Environmental Sustainability

Strategy #1-We encourage community members to "reduce and reuse." By donating used items and shopping at secondhand stores, such as Planet Green Thrift Store, you are reducing air, land and water pollution. Many items that get thrown away and put into landfills are perfectly useable! Landfill waste is a leading cause of methane gas that contributes to global warming and other environmental problems. In addition to selling used textiles at our store, we donate a portion overseas to help clothe people in need.

Strategy #2-We want to educate the community on the environmental consequences of using single use plastic such as water bottles and plastic bags. These toxic items do NOT biodegrade and harm our oceans and ecosystems. We believe reducing single use plastic usage is the easiest and most impactful change you can make! We carry a variety of plastic alternatives in our store.

Strategy #3-PGP will be holdling biannual community clean up events to prevent trash and debris from blowing into the Delaware River and harming the soil and wildlife. Check our events page and join us!

Strategy #4- In addition to local efforts, PGP raises funds and partners with The Environmental Defense Fund. Check out their current projects at https://www.edf.org

Where do I drop off donations?

We accept donations on site daily during business hours.

Do you pick up donations?

Yes! We offer donation pick up services for people that live in Delaware County or New Castle County. However, we no longer pick up heavy furniture. We will happily pick up any of your other donations that can be picked up by one strong person. This can include, but it’s not limited to clothing, linens, housewares, and small pieces of furniture. You can schedule your pick up right on the website.
